Ken Block

                Ken Block, born in November 21^st, 1967. He is really awesome, there are two main reason why I admire this person. First, he is a businessman, he is co-founder of DC Shoes, one of global sports brand. DC really did well in the global market, because not just ordinary shoes, but like skateboarding shoe, snowboarding, and the other. And second, because he is the best drifter I ever know in this world. He really awesome when he drive his car, Subaru Imprezza WRX Sti. Ken lives in Rancho Santa Fe, California.

                After founded DC Shoes together with Damon Way, DC nowadays become one of the best sport attribute. Damon starts by promote the DC shoes to his skateboarding brother Danny Way and his friend Collin McKay for sponsored the DC Shoes. Ken and Damon grew the business from small operation until now DC Shoes all over the world. Block now serves as Chief Brand Officer where he oversees the DC Brand. A lot of achievments for DC shoes and Ken Block too.

                In his racing career, he is really great in his race. He races in the rally racing, rally racing is need high skill to complete a single race, and Ken Block can do all his race well. On 2005, Ken Block rallying for the first time, he got achievement Rookie of The Year, it shows that Ken Block has a really great talent. He was then signed by the USA Rally Subaru Team on 2006. He got a lot of achievement like 18 podiums and 7 overall rally wins. He successfully jumped 171 feets in 2006, recorded in Discovery Channel.

                Besides, he really awesome in Gymkhana. It is a challenge for any drifter to do some maneuver passes some obstacles like cones, tires, and the others. A lot of video show Ken Block on Gymkhana, and every video shows all the awesomeness of Ken Block, the co-founder of DC Shoes and drifter.

Fire In the Hole

                One day, a man called Alan, was finding a beautiful place to painted by him. After searching in a lot of place, he decided to go to a forest. Finally, he got a place that really beautiful, and he started to paint it into his canvas. He really loves paint in that forest, he has drawn it from the morning until almost 4 o’clock. Finally, the paint is done and it was really beautiful paint, and after that he packed all his stuff and went home for rest.

                On his way, he stumbled by a hole. He really wanted to know what inside the hole, because the hole is quiet big. When he looked at it, he quiet confused, “Why a big metal can be in here? What kind of metal is this?”, he said. He dag the soil, he found a shape that really familiar. Suddenly, he shocked because it’s a bomb. It’s like a dynamite with a timer on it.

                On the next morning, he and some police officer went to that place. After take some minutes, the bomb are defused and destroyed by the police. “It can explode any time, glad you found it”, said the police officer. Because of that, Alan got some prize.

Newspaper Review

Ford Focus, setted as the best selling car in the world on 2012. The main reason is because this car is efficient on fuel usage, cheap, and has a lot of feature. There are two feature that make people want to buy it. Automatic and sonar detector to control the brake. This feature, breaks the automotive world for smart car.

For me, it’s quiet confusing. All I see, in Indonesia, I hardly ever see Ford Focus on the road. People say that Ford Focus hasn’t arrived in Indonesia, but I don’t thinks so. I’ve watched the advertisement on television.

In this news said that Ford Focus beat Honda in the selling. This statement is opposite of the real life in Indonesia. We’ll often see Honda.

Novel Review

“Tombs of Atuan, the second book of Earthsea cycle”

Synopsis:

            Because the last dark priest has died, so the new the great priest must be borned just at the same time with the death of the last woman priest. After the search all over the Atuan land. Finally they found  the new tomb guard. The great dark woman priest or mistress is a woman that must protect the tomb which contain the wizard that build Atuan and contain a lot of treasure, one of the wizard want to take is The Erreth-Ekbe Ring.

            After the ritual, now the new woman priest must  learn about all of the tombs, because in the next year, she must be know everything because she is the great dark woman priest. The leader of all the dark woman priest. She called Arha.

            When Arha learn, she really scare because of the dark and one of the woman priest. She learn really fast. The tombs is dark, lights didn’t allow at that tombs. So, Arha just use her hands by feeling the wall of the tombs, she can feel all the stone of the tombs, all the branch, and all the rooms like prisoner room, treasure room, and the other.

            Finally, when Arha is really ready, she become the true great dark woman priest. She can lead all the woman priest, but her responsibility is a lot, like about the prisoner and guard the tombs from wizard that almost never come to the tomb. Sometimes, the prisoners make Arha doesn’t feel comfort, and sometimes she feels like her name isn’t Arha. But, almost everyday all Arha’s work is just same.

            But, everything is change when she walked at tombs. She see a light, a beautiful light in the tombs. And when she see where is the light come from, she just shock because the light is from a wizard’s stick. She knows that he is a wizard, and just in seconds the wizard put the light gone and runaway. Arha get out from the tombs and find the man from small holes that spread at the castle.

            After a while, she found the man looks tired. He looks really thirsty, and after 2 days, Arha just left him like that. Finally, Arha gives him some water from the holes and see what is he doing. Arha see the man like find some room. She guess that that man want to find the Erreth-Ekbe ring, that located in the treasure room.

            He looks really tired cause of he didn’t found the room. But Arha knows where is it, it just need walks some steps to the branch and go to left and at the next branch go to right, the room is at the right. The man just sit there and make small lights from his stick. After see that situation, Arha wants to help that man. Arha gives the direction, but to the prisoner room. While he was there, Arha always give him some food and drink. She also ask his name, but he refuse to answer it, cause he said that, “in my land, tell your name means tell your character”.

            But finally, Arha give him the direction to the treasure room. After that, Arha said to the man,”This is the room that you want to find, you can found that ring and after you go inside, you can’t go outside, because they’ll kill you”. “okay, I get it”, said the man. For 2 days that man still in that room, but finally Arha open the door and talk with the man.

            After long talk all about the wizard in the north land, the man directly said to the woman priest, “my name is Sparrowhawk, would you come to my land, with this ring”. First, Arha doesn’t know what is the answer, but finally she say yes. And after Sparrowhawk take Erreth-Ekbe ring that really big, he wears it to the Arha’s hand and suddenly, the woman said that her name wasn’t Arha but Tenar. And when Sparrowhawk and Tenar get out from the treasure room, there suddenly an earthquake. They get out from the tombs quickly.

            They walk from Atuan to the harbor that really far from the tombs. Firstly, Tenar doesn’t confident to his decision. But finally she knows that she just make a right choice. After sailing, they arrive at the Havnor, the northern land. She shows the ring to the king and walk confident in the white road Havnor with Sparrowhawk, the wizard.

My review :

I think this novel is great because the moral is really great, it shows that everybody can get out from the darkness. This is a translated novel, actually this novel is in English, but I only read the Bahasa Indonesia.

And the author, is one of the great author in America, Ursula J. Le Guin. Even I only buy the second book, and just read another review of the first and third book, I think this book is great. Actually I read this on 8^th grade on Junior High School, but until now, Gramedia still sell it because one of best seller.

The Tombs of Atuan has its own identity as a fantasy novel in Earthsea. The story of a young woman’s discovery of freedom, the narrative depends less on the supernatural and more on character interaction toward resolving the issues that arise. So, it is easier to understand by anybody.

Recount

Last June 25^th until 29^th, I and my family went to Lombok for a holiday. This is one of my best holiday, because this is the time when I first time diving in the open water. Besides, this was a gift for us, me, my brother, and my sister. We’d planned it for a couple of months, so this is a holiday that really great.

                On the first day, we went to the Lombok by air travel, so we took plane from Husein airport. Then from Husein, we went to Surabaya and Bali for transit. It took an hour and 45 minutes from Husein to Surabaya. After waited for several times, we took the same plane to Bali for another transit, and finally we arrived at Lombok. Lombok is a nice island, the water and environment still clean, the sea is just like a pool at some swimming pool, so clean so we can see through it. After checked in at the hotel, we had a walked in the beach that near the hotel. And found some food outside at the evening.

                Next day, we went to the training place, so me and my brother and sister learned the basic of diving at the sea. We studied about using it before, while using, and after using all of that thing. After practiced at the pool, we went back to hotel to do our homework from the PADI dive center.

                The third day, June 27^th, was the first time me and my brother and sister diving at the open water or sea, the truly is we didn’t dive at Lombok, but in Gili Trawangan, it’s next to Lombok. We did all what instructor said, actually, this one was fun dive, so we didn’t have to do a test, we saw a lot of things under water, I saw a tortoise twice at the first dive, it was really great look at one of it swimming not far from me. After rested for a while on Gili Trawangan island(to reduced the nitrogen level on out lungs), we took the second diving, but this time, we must do some test that we had practiced at the pool yesterday. All of us could do it well, after that we had some fun dive again. We ended the day by eating outside our hotel with our cousin that luckily had a holiday too. We ate Taliwang chicken(Lombok’s traditional food).

                On the next day, we had diving twice too, but this time, we must did theory test too in our hotel. That was the time that I saw two tuna fish swim. And the first time diving that day, we found a really rare fish, it has shape like a leaf, my assistant instructor said, “I’ve dived hundred times not just in Indonesia, but that was the first time I saw it”. And it means that I was really lucky, that was the third time I dived, but I found a fish that really rare, how amazing is that! Finally, we passed the test well, and now, I’m officially member of PADI. At the night, we bought some gift.

                On the last day, June 29^th, my brother’s birthday! But that day, we must went back to Bandung. But it was okay, because I was really happy because of all the experience in Lombok. And because of that experience, I want to dive on water again.

Project

Why I did this project?Because from this project, we can know that dome shaped lens can be used to make a simple camera.  Even this camera can’t take any pictures, but we can see the pictures from the screen.

What do you need for this project?

-            -  A Scissor

-            - Carton (thin duplex)

-            - Black tape

-            - Dome shaped lens (from magnifier)

-             - Oil paper

What is the steps?

1.       Find the focus from the lens

    Ø  Every dome shaped lens has a focus, we can now it by light the lens, and then make rest of the light is only a dot. Find the distance from the lens until the dot.

2.       Make a cylinder to put the lens, the cylinder must as long as the focus of the lens

    Ø  Make it as long as the focus, then put the lens at the end of the cylinder

3.       Make a box with different side on the two sides

    Ø  Make a box with the length of the side same as the lens’s focus. But, in one side, make a hole for place the cylinder. And the opposite side, make a hole (square shaped) to put the oil paper as the screen. Make sure no lights can get in except from the cylinder (lens)

4.       Make another box without top

    Ø  Make a new box without top and the length of sides is focus length, focus length, and half focus length. On the bottom side, make a hole (circle shaped) that not too big for place where we look into the screen. Stick with the first box and make sure that no lights can get in. We have to look the screen in dark condition.

5.       Finish.

    Ø  Now, you can use your camera, but in your screen, you will look upside down.

What is the result?

The result is the simple camera, this camera is can be seen from old camera. The camera in old times, show the picture upside down.
